Hospital Printing Checklist: What Every Clinic in Bangladesh Needs

Walk through any hospital or diagnostic centre in Dhaka and you will see printed material everywhere: at the reception desk, in the doctor's chamber, at the lab counter and on the walls. Most of it is so familiar that nobody thinks about it until a form runs out on a busy morning, or a patient cannot make sense of their report envelope.

This checklist covers the print materials most hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres in Bangladesh use every day, along with practical tips on paper, numbering and branding. Use it to audit what you have, spot the gaps and plan your next print order.

Front desk and admission

Reception is where patients form their first impression. These items should be clear, consistent and quick for staff to fill in.

  • Registration and admission forms with patient details, attendant information and space for office use
  • Appointment and follow-up cards small enough for a wallet, with space for the doctor's name, date and serial
  • Patient files and folders with sturdy covers and space for patient ID, ward and admission date
  • Money receipts and bill books, ideally serial-numbered for easy tracking
  • Visitor or attendant passes to help control access to wards

Clinical stationery

Prescription pads

The prescription pad is probably the most-used printed item in any healthcare setting. A good pad shows the doctor's name, degrees, registration number, chamber address and hours, and still leaves plenty of clear space for the prescription itself. If several doctors work from the same hospital or chamber, use one template and create a version for each doctor so everything looks consistent.

Clinical forms

  • Consent forms for procedures and surgery
  • Discharge summaries and medical certificates
  • Investigation request forms
  • Nursing and treatment charts
  • Referral letters

Diagnostic and lab materials

Diagnostic centres hand over reports all day long, and the packaging is part of the service.

  • Lab report envelopes and covers sized to fit your printed reports without awkward folding
  • X-ray, CT and MRI film envelopes in strong paper that protects the films
  • Report folders for patients who collect several reports at once
  • Sample and specimen labels that stay readable

Pharmacy materials

If you run an in-house pharmacy, add medicine packets or small envelopes, labels with space for dosage instructions, and cash memos to your list.

Identity, communication and signage

  • Letterheads and envelopes for official letters and certificates
  • Visiting cards for consultants and management
  • Staff ID cards and lanyards for doctors, nurses and support staff
  • Brochures and leaflets for services, health packages and awareness campaigns
  • Signage and wayfinding for departments, floors and emergency areas
  • Banners and standees for health camps, campaigns and new services

Tips for better hospital printing

Choose paper for the job

Not every item needs the same paper. Forms and prescription pads need paper that takes ballpoint ink cleanly without bleeding through. Files, folders and film envelopes need heavier stock that survives daily handling. Brochures usually look best on coated paper that keeps images sharp. When you ask for a quote, explain how each item is used so your printer can suggest suitable options.

Use serial numbering where records matter

Receipts, bill books, admission forms and some certificates are much easier to track when each copy carries a unique number. Plan the numbering sequence before you print, and keep a note of the starting number of each batch.

Keep branding consistent

Over the years, hospitals often reorder from different suppliers, and slowly the logo, colours and fonts drift apart. Keep one approved set of artwork files and use it for every reprint and every branch. Consistent material makes an organisation look established and trustworthy.

Design forms for the people who fill them in

A form is a working tool. Group related fields together, use readable type sizes, leave enough space for handwriting, stamps and signatures, and include both Bangla and English labels where your patients need them. Before a redesign, ask the staff who use the forms every day what slows them down.

Keep forms easy to update

Phone numbers, services, doctors and regulations change. Keep a simple record of which information appears on which item, so updates are quick and nothing outdated goes back to print.

Order sensible quantities

Larger runs lower the cost per piece, especially with offset printing, but a big order is wasted if the content changes. For items that change often, smaller digital print runs may be the better choice. Share your monthly usage with your printer so they can help you balance cost and flexibility.

A quick audit checklist

Area Items to check
Front desk Registration forms, appointment cards, patient files, receipts
Clinical Prescription pads, consent forms, discharge summaries, charts
Diagnostics Report envelopes, film envelopes, report folders, labels
Pharmacy Medicine packets, labels, cash memos
Identity Letterheads, envelopes, visiting cards, ID cards
Communication Brochures, leaflets, signage, banners

For each item, ask three questions: is the information current, does the design match everything else, and is there enough stock for the coming months?
